2nd Floor Gallery

The 2nd Floor Gallery is a non-profit exhibition space run by volunteers of the Mahone Bay Centre. Its mandate is to provide artists at all levels of development an opportunity to submit their work to peer review using curatorial standards.
The gallery's mission is to exhibit work encompasing a wide range of perspectives and vision in order to stimulate dialogue and interest in the visual arts; to encourage public exposure to the variety and quality of art work in the vacinity; and, stimulate the public's awareness of the value of the arts for society.
Double Dragon Dance Studio

The Double Dragon Dance Studio offers dance classes and a space for dancers to use right here in our community. The space is bright with high ceilings, a wooden floor, mirrors and a dance barre; dancers who use the space say it's an enjoyable space in which to dance.
Dance is a wonderful way to get fit, flexible and strong without bulking up; another side benefit is that good posture and awareness of what our bodies are doing becomes part of our everyday life. At present, the Dance Studio offers a variety of dance classes:
- Ballet:
- Francine Boucher teaches ballet. For years a dancer with Les Grands Ballets Canadiens as well as several avant garde modern dance troupes, she has been teaching ballet and modern dance for the past two decades. Francine brings her sense of fun and enthusiasm for dance along with an unswerving commitment to technique and being the best dancer possible (within the limits each person has to work with). Ballet classes: Municipality of Lunenburg Recreation Department: 541-1343
- Middle Eastern Dance:
- Andrea heads head up the Middle Eastern dance troupe Jewels of the East that performs regularly in the Atlantic Region. Not only is Middle Eastern Dance beautiful both to the dancer and the spectator, it is an amazing vehicle to get fit and stay that way. Andrea Haines 541-0918
PrintMakers Studio
This weekly studio access is an opportunity for individuals who have an interest in printmaking and some previous basic experience to make prints in a small supportive group atmosphere.

This is a working studio that incorporates a sharing of experience and ideas among the individuals present, rather than a course that has a teaching-based structure. Individuals can use this time to develop their visual concepts and to explore the personal expressive potential that exists for them in printmaking media. Work can be pursued in this studio space with the etching press and basic materials that are available.
For further information, call Ed Porter at 634-3497 (evenings are best).
